Kakinada Municipal Elections: TDP 32, YSRCP 10, BJP 3, Ind 3, Congress 0 

Kakinada: Ruling Telugu Desam Party won 32 out of 48 Divisions of Kakinada Municipal Corporation for which election was held this week and the result was declared on Friday.

Despite TDP's blatant money politics and threats to the voters, the Opposition YSR Congress Party could wrest 10 seats in the election while TDP's ally BJP won in three Divisions. The mayor and deputy mayor will be elected from among the Corporators.

Three candidates not supported by any party also won while Congress party drew a big zero in the election. The TDP cadres celebrated the victory as the party wrested the Kakinada Corporation after 30 years. The ruling party claimed that Kapus in the town and East Godavari district have trust in CM Chandrababu Naidu despite Mudragada Padmanabham's Kapu reservation movement.

YSRCP leader Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy said the result was not a mandate to the ruling party or its programs but they won only with money power and by threatening voters that all government schemes will be cancelled if they don't vote for TDP. "If they are really confident about their developmental programs, let the ruling party make the defected MLAs resign and go for elections." He thanked each voter who voted for YSRCP despite threats and money offers from TDP.
