NRI Adopts First 100 % Digital Literate Village Dondapadu in Telangana

Hyderabad: Certificates distributed among the villagers of Dondapadu that has become the first NRI adopted 100 % digital literate village. The village was adopted by the NRI Annapareddy Appi Reddy under Digithon Digital Village initiative. 218 villagers of the Dondapadu were imparted training of basic computers, digital

transactions including financial literacy for several days as part of the program. US based NRI Annapareddi Appi Reddy agreed to adopt this village during a meeting with Digithon chairman Sundeep Kumar Makthala in Chicago. Appi Reddy is the first NRI in Telangana to adopt any village for digital literacy.

As an NRI, he wanted to contribute to the fellow Indians in gaining digital knowledge and TITA had provided the ground level support in this achieving this record. Sundeep Kumar Makthala said that more and more villages can be digitally empowered if other NRIs come forward to adopt their own villages in the coming days. He said that empowering the Telangana state in terms of digital literacy and digital education was the ultimate goal of Digithon and Digital Volunteers would always be ready to give their services.

He said that Telangana must be ahead in digital literacy among other states across the country. Certificates were distributed among villagers of Dondapadu who have attended the digital literacy classes.

Appireddy said that it was a great achievement and matter of great pleasure to achieve the goal of digital empowerment in Dondapadu. He said that success of the Dondapadu would inspire other villages and NRIs in the future.

Suryapet Deputy Collector Sanjeev Reddy appreciated the efforts of NRI Appireddy, TITA volunteers and other stakeholders in educating the villagers on digital tools. He said that digitally empowered citizens make it easy for e-Governance.

TITA Vice President Ranapratap Bojjam, Spokesperson Venkat Vanam, Pradeep Nilgir, Shivashankar Margoni, Sravan Bhanavarapu, Ben, Vamsi, Pilli Srinivas, Hari Babu, Venkatram Reddy Mettu, Shekar, Rajeshwari, Rajashekar and others participated in the event. Hundreds of villagers have participated in the program and showed their interest in becoming the part of digital revolution by the Telangana government.

Appi Reddy and other district authorities have congratulated the villagers for achieving this milestone and learning digital tools for their daily life chores.
