Telangana Govt Says No Lockdown Now, But Bans Rallies

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao put a full stop to all rumours about night curfew and lockdown in a review meeting held on Sunday. 

KCR mentioned that no such decision like lockdown and night curfew was taken. Later, he stated that frontline employees, senior residents, and health care workers will receive booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine from Monday, January 10. 

 In response to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India, the state government recently extended its restriction on rallies, public meetings, and mass gatherings till January 20.

The chief minister further warned the public not to travel in large groups, particularly during the Sankranthi vacations. He urged people to stay at home and celebrate while taking all necessary precautions against the COVID-19 virus.

He further stated that the third dose (booster Shot) would be given to all eligible frontline employees, people above age of 60, and health care workers.

The remarks were made by the Telangana chief minister during a review meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan to discuss the state's COVID-19 situation as well as check the alertness of the medical and health departments. During the meeting, KCR also reviewed the development of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Irrigation departments.

KCR requestd people to follow all COVID protocols like wearing face mask and maintaining social distance. He also urged the general public, particularly those aged 15 to 18, to get vaccinated. The medical health department officials submitted the reports to KCR on the measures taken following his instructions. Later, they assured about the arrangements for adequate Oxygen beds, medicines, and other facilities required.
