Medak Borewell Mishap Ends In Tragedy; Boy Found Dead At 25-Feet

 - Sakshi Post

MEDAK: As largely feared, the latest episode of a three-year-old boy falling in a borewell in Medak ended in tragedy. Sanjay Saivardhan, the toddler who slipped into the 120-fee deep borewell, was found dead by the rescue team in the wee hours of Thursday. The incident happened in Podchanpally of Papannapet mandal in Medak district.
The rescue team which dug up the soil around the borewell found him at a depth of 25 feet. Thus, the 12-hour-long rescue operation initiated by the Medak district official machinery and medical and NDRF teams went in vain.
The rescue team remained optimistic till the very end. As per reports, they dug up parallelly to the borewell in their bid to reach the level where the boy was found stuck. Everything is said to have gone as per plan but the boy is reported to have died just before being extricated from the borewell.
Heart-broken by Sanjay's death, his parents and family members are inconsolable. The entire Podchanally village is grieving the young boy's death.
Sanjay Saivardhan is said to have accidentally fallen into the gaping borewell on Wednesday evening when he was returning home from their farm fields along with his grandfather. The borewell belongs to a neighbour, who incidentally got it drilled only on Wednesday morning. As per information available, this is one of the three borewells that he went for in search of water for his agricultural fields.
Even after going to a depth of 120 feet, they could not hit water which prompted them to abandon their attempts to go down further. However, the owner of the borewell hasn't taken care to cover it up leading to the boy's accidental fall and tragic death.
The police are likely to register a case of negligence against the borewell owner. This is the fourth such incident involving small kids and borewells in Medak district in the recent past. Despite the state government making the relevant laws much more stringent, incidents of gross negligence and insensitivity continue to take the toll of innocent lives.
