Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi Faces TRS Ire in Uppal

HYDERABAD: GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi faced a bitter experience during a foundation stone laying ceremony in Uppal on Tuesday that too from the ruling party BRS cadre.

The Mayor who had come to Uppal to lay the foundation stone had to face the ire of the BRS activists who resented the fact that she was conducting the ceremony without the local BRS MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy being present at the event as per protocol. They started raising slogans like 'go back mayor' and disrupted the proceedings.

The Mayor despite telling them that the event was already preplanned and the date was fixed and the same was informed to the MLA. However, they refused to pay heed to her and raised slogans against her for not maintaining protocol. This led to an ugly squabble between the BRS activists and the Mayor during the event. Eventually, Gadwal Vijayalaksmi left the place in a huff without conducting the event.
