Begum Bazaar Honour Killing: Man Murdered By Wife's Family, 10 People Into Custody

A man was brutally murdered in broad public view allegedly by the family members of his wife. The incident took place on the busy Begum Bazaar street, Hyderabad. According to Shahinayathgunj Inspector Y Ajay Kumar, the incident took place at around 7.45 pm on Friday near Fish Market when the victim Neeraj Panwar was riding a bike along with his grandfather as a pillion.

"A group of five persons, including the woman’s brother, intercepted Neeraj and his grandfather in a bylane and started attacking Neeraj with knives and stones," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) D Joel Davis said.

Neeraj suffered severe injuries and was immediately rushed to Osmania General Hospital but the doctors declared him he was brought dead.

Neeraj, a wholesale groundnut trader from Afzalgunj got married to Sanjana. It was a love marriage and both of them belong to different castes. One-and-half-year ago, Neeraj and Sanjana married against the wishes of Sanjana's family members and parents. The family members of Sanjana also live in the same locality. The brother of Sanjana decided to eliminate her husband and hatched a plot. The couple had a son recently and he was three months old.

A murder case was registered and the cops are also analyzing the video footage of surveillance cameras to know how the incident took place. According to the reports, police have taken 10 people into custody and the investigation is underway.

Sanjana, the wife of Neeraj Panwar said that strict action should be taken against those who have murdered her husband. She said that there is a life threat to her in-laws. She further stated that they have been getting death threats ever since their wedding took place.
