After Chevella Tragedy, Two Killed, Several Injured in Four Bus Accidents in AP, Telangana

After 19 people, including a 10-month-old infant, were killed in a road accident near Chevella in Rangareddy district, four more accidents—two each in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh—have been reported.

Two fatalities have been reported, while several others sustained injuries in the accidents.

In Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru district, one person died and four others were injured when a bus bound for Hyderabad overturned near Jubilee Nagar on October 3. The bus, carrying 15 passengers, was traveling from Dharmajigudem in West Godavari when the driver lost control near a curve due to speeding.

Confirming the accident, Jangareddygudem Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) P Ravichandra said one person died, while the four injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

In a separate accident, a woman was killed and at least eight passengers were injured when a private bus overturned after hitting a tractor on National Highway 44 near Damajipalli in CK mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district on October 4.

In Telangana’s Nalgonda district, five people were injured when a private bus traveling from Kavali in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district to Hyderabad rammed into a tractor on the Narketpalli-Addanki highway. There were 45 passengers on the bus at the time, and the injured were shifted to Miryalguda Government Hospital.

Another accident in Karimnagar district involved a TGRTC bus colliding with a tractor carrying paddy near the Renikunta bridge in Timmapur mandal on October 4. All 10 passengers on the bus sustained injuries.

Over the past two weeks, a series of accidents involving both government and private buses have been reported, raising concerns over safety norms and compliance in public transport.
