BJP to Protest Against Telangana Government Over Paddy Procurement

 - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the state BJP president, appealed to the party's cadre on Wednesday to participate in big numbers in rallies planned by the party in all district collector offices on Thursday, requesting that the state government purchase paddy from farmers.

Interacting with district party presidents, in-charges, and heads of various morchas at the state party headquarters here, he questioned why the state government was hesitant to buy paddy when the Centre had previously stated its willingness to acquire 60 lakh metric tonnes. In this respect, the Centre has also written to the State administration.

Sanjay spoke on the difficulties farmers encounter as a result of paddy delivery delays, as well as the state government's response to farmers' issues. He was outraged that the TRS blamed the Centre for the procurement issue. To put pressure on the state government to acquire paddy, the BJP decided to hold rallies at district collector offices.

According to Sanjay, the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was offering Rs 1,960 as the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy, in addition to carrying the cost of gunny bags, transportation, and godown storage charges, among other expenses.

Meanwhile, Tarun Chugh, the BJP's national general secretary and Telangana in-charge, claimed Sanjay's 'Praja Sangrama Yatra' a few weeks ago helped the party win the Huzurabad Assembly by-election. He travelled to the city to attend a preliminary meeting to talk about the plans for the yatra's second phase, which runs from November 21 to January 10.
