Virat Kohli: Dhoni Played A Big Role In Grooming Him To Take Up Captaincy Role

HYDERABAD: India captain Virat Kohli is one of the greatest players in the cricket. He is known for his agressive nature on the field. Virat Kohli on Saturday interacted with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in an Instagram Live session and revealed his immense admiration for MS Dhoni.

Virat Kohli credited his predecessor MS Dhoni's role in getting him India's captaincy. He said that from day one, he wanted to learn and was intrigued by the game. Virat told Ashwin that, "I would always be in Dhoni's ears on the fied. I would be bouncing off a lot of my ideas with him, of which he would refuse plenty. But he would also discuss a few things with me if he liked an idea. I think he got a lot of confidence that I can do this after him. I think a large portion of me becoming captain was also to do with him observing me for a long time."

Virat further added that becoming a captain of India was not even in his wildest dreams. Kohli asserted that he don't think the selectors appointed him as India captain suddenly, they probably had taken the decision of Dhoni.

To a question that how he learnt the tricks to get a big total from his early days, Virat replied that, " It was during the 183 which I scored against Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup when I discovered a lot about my game. Pakistan had a potent bowling attack. But while playing the innings, I realised that I can break the target of 330 down into two T20 games and plan my innings accordingly. It was all about wrestling control and executing the plans". Here is the video of Instagram Live session. Just give a look at it.
