KAMAREDDY: Megastar Chiranjeevi, his son Mega Power Star Ram Charan, daughter-in-law Upasana Kamineni and several others came under attack from a swarm of honey bees here on Sunday. The bee attack took place when Chiranjeevi and family were taking part in the last rites of Upasana's grandfather Umapathi Rao. Rao was a retired IAS officer and also the heir of the Domakonda Samsthan.

Even as the preparations were being made for the final journey of Umapathi Rao, a swarm of honey bees came from nowhere making everyone present there take evasive action and look for cover. Luckily, Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and Upasana emerged safe from the incident as their personal security quickly covered them and moved them to safety. However, a few of the attendees could not escape the bee stings. Soon, normalcy was restored and the family proceeded with the final rites of Umapathi Rao.

Upasana Kamineni's grand father K Umapathy Rao passed away on May 27. The 92-year-old retired civil servant was also renowned as an Urdu poet. He was battling age-related ailments for a while. The last rites of Rao were delayed till Sunday for the sake of his son who had to return to India from the United States.

Upasana Kamineni shares a special bond with Umapathy Rao. She took to her Instagram and wrote, "He witnessed the struggle of Razakar movement, India’s fight for freedom and many more historic events. An Urdu Poet known for his Shayari and the first Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams was a strong believer in the religion of kindness & generosity."

She also wrote, "Our grandfather was a man of great principles, selflessness, generosity and sense of humour. His rich long life, achievements and many acts of kindness will be celebrated and remembered by all. Our humble request is for all of you to show your love with a smile rather than tears."
