A powerful new documentary-drama, The Brown Heart, is set to premiere on May 3 on JioHotstar, highlighting the growing crisis of early and fatal heart attacks in Indian communities worldwide. Created by US-based Indian physicians Dr. Nirmal Joshi and Dr. Renu Joshi, the film combines emotional real-life stories with expert insights to raise awareness and offer practical prevention strategies.

The film features over 40 leading health experts from India, the US, and the UK, along with moving testimonies from celebrities such as Naseeruddin Shah, Meghna Gulzar, Daler Mehndi, Rithvik Dhanjani, Bani J, and more. These voices, coming from both the medical and entertainment fields, aim to drive home the urgent need for heart health awareness among Indians.

Dr. Renu Joshi shares her own battle with heart disease in the film, adding a personal layer to the message. Backed by the Joshi Health Foundation and philanthropists Hersha & Hasu Shah and Madhavi & Ramesh Bathini, the documentary stands as a unique blend of clinical knowledge and cinematic storytelling.

Dr. Nirmal Joshi, who also directed the film, said, “The situation is frightening and unacceptable. Many Indians, even in their thirties and forties, are dying of early heart attacks. Our goal with this film is to save lives by telling real human stories and sharing evidence-based prevention tips.”
