Tollywood Big Meeting: Producers Vs Exhibitors

Amid the ongoing debate over the proposed percentage system in Tollywood, Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce President D Suresh Babu held a crucial meeting with leading producers, distributors, and exhibitors to discuss the growing concerns within the industry.

The core issue revolves around exhibitors demanding the implementation of a percentage-based revenue-sharing model instead of the existing rental and advance system followed in several theatres. Theatre owners argue that the percentage system would ensure fair revenue distribution and help exhibitors sustain operations amid rising maintenance costs and fluctuating box office collections.

However, several producers and distributors are reportedly opposing the proposal, expressing concerns that the new system could impact recovery models, increase financial uncertainty, and affect the economics of film distribution. The ongoing arguments between producers, distributors, and exhibitors over the past few weeks have created significant buzz and tension within the Telugu film industry.

Prominent personalities who attended the meeting included Allu Aravind, Supriya Yarlagadda, Ravi Kishore, Mythri Ravi, Mythri Cherry, C. Kalyan, Sravanti Ravi Kishore, Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao, and Dheeraj Mogilineni.

From the exhibitors’ side, Suniel Narang, Vijayender Reddy, and Sridhar participated in the discussions. Producers Dil Raju, Cherukuri Sudhakar, and Bhogavalli Bapineedu were also present. Additionally, Sahu Garapati, Peddi producer Satish Kilaru, and Sithara Naga Vamsi attended the meeting.

The meeting is said to have focused on finding a balanced solution acceptable to all stakeholders to avoid further disruption in the industry.
