Putting Audiences in Director's Chair: RGV's Groundbreaking Concept

 - Sakshi Post

In a bold move to reinvent the traditional filmmaking process, renowned director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has unveiled a groundbreaking concept that puts the power in the hands of the audience. "What if the story of the movie is posted online, and the audience decides who should act in it?" Varma proposed, challenging the conventional notion of filmmaking.

The concept, "Your Film," was elaborated upon during a press meet at the RGV Den on Saturday. The idea is simple yet revolutionary: the audience holds the reins, determining not only the cast but also the director, cinematographer, and other key roles.

"As the audience decides the hit and flop of the movie, the audience chooses the hero, heroine, director, cinematographer, and all the technicians through the RGV website," Varma explains. "The film is then made with those who are in the forefront."

The process will unfold as follows: The story of the movie will be posted on the RGV website (rgvden.com), and interested actors, directors, cinematographers, and other crew members can apply for the roles they desire. The audience will then vote on the applicants, and the ones with the most votes will secure the positions.

"For example, if 1,000 people apply for the role of the hero, 50 of them will be shortlisted by RGV's den team and put on the website," Varma elaborates. "After that, they will give auditions, and whoever the audience likes the most in those auditions will become the hero."

This democratic approach, as Varma calls it, ensures that the cast and crew are chosen based on the merits of their work and the audience's preferences. "Democracy is maintained, and the cast will be selected on the merit of their votes," he said.

With the producer on board, the "Your Film" project is slated for release within the next six months. Varma is confident that this revolutionary concept will transform the film industry. He believes it will empower the audience to shape the movies they want to see.
