As part of the preparations, the District Collectors of these districts have announced holidays for schools and government institutions in areas where the by-elections are being held.

This includes the schools and government offices within the district but also all sections of the public. The objective here is to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful poll.

Within Pathanamthitta District, the following schools designated as polling stations will remain closed on December 10th:

Elakolloor Government LP School
Thengumkavu No. 77 Anganwadi
Poovanpara Amrita LP School

West Edayaranmula Sri Karumban Daivathan Memorial Government LPS
Vallana St. Mary's MT LPS
Erumakkad St. Mary's Higher Secondary School
Niranam Government HSS
Ezhumattoor

These would serve as poll stations for local body by-elections also with which the holidays provided some reprieve to allow administrative necessities for conducting a hassle-free exercise.

Holiday to All Educational Institutions and Other Institutions

In addition to the schools, all government offices and educational institutions in constituencies with by-elections in Pathanamthitta will have a holiday on December 10th, according to the District Collector. But this does not extend to the staff performing election duties.

The declaration of a holiday on government offices and educational institutions is solely to ensure that the election process is peaceful and orderly. The proper steps are being taken by the concerned authorities to ensure that this election process is free and fair.
