KTR Urges AP Government To Arrest Dr. Lakshmi In Sandhya Suicide Case 

Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday urged the Andhra Pradesh government to nab Guntur Medical College professor Dr. Lakshmi who was responsible for the suicide of PG medico Dr. B. Sandhya Rani.

KTR consoled the mother of Sandhya who visited him at his office seeking justice in her daughter's death and assured her that he would see to it that the culprit Prof. Lakshmi arrested at the earliest. The minister spoke to the AP's Minister for Medical and Health Dr. Kamineni Srinivas over the phone and urged him for speedy action in the case. He also spoke to AP DGP Sambasiva Rao and inquired about the progress in the case.

Dr Sandhya Rani, 27 years, a PG student of the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, was a native of Nalgonda district and secured a seat in the Department of Gynaecology in 2014. She committed suicide by injecting an over dose of anesthesia to herself. In her suicide note, Sanndhya said that she was ending her life because of the harassment meted out to her by her professor Dr. Lakshmi.

A committee inquired into the incident found Lakshmi guilty of hasassing Sandhya. Dr. Kamineni Srinivas said last week that they had received the committee reports and officials have been directed to take action against the professor.

Dr. Lakshmi has been absconding from the day of Sandhya's suicide. Despite a direction by Hyderabad High Court to arrest Lakshmi at the earliest, AP police are unable to trace the accused since October 27.

KTR also assured Sandhya's family that Chief Minister KCR will speak to AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in this regard if the accused is not arrested immediately.
