Hyderabad: An awareness programme on child abuse was conducted in Kendriya Vihar Phase 3 in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Kendriya Vihar is a community for Central Government employees and the association took an initiative in collaboration with the Break the Silence (BTS) Organisation to conduct the workshop on Preventiom of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) in the community premises.

The workshop was conducted by a professional team who were trained by Tulir, an NGO based in Chennai which works mainly in the area of preventing and healing of child sexual abuse. The main objectives of this NGO are :

1.To support and participate in local, national and international efforts to promote and protect the rights of the child.

2.To raise awareness on child sexual abuse.

3.To work towards improving policy and advancing practice to prevent and address cases of child sexual abuse with a special emphasis on the psychosocial well being of children.

4.To provide direct intervention services in the areas of prevention and healing of child sexual abuse.

5.To undertake research, documentation, and dissemination of information on child sexual abuse.

Various sessions were held from forenoon to evening for both the children and parents.
