High Court Resumes Hearing On ‘Cash For Vote’ Scam

Hyderabad: High Court on Thursday resumed hearing on sensational 'cash for vote' case following the direction from Supreme Court. Earlier, the High Court had stayed the order of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Challenging this, the petitioners moved Supreme Court, which directed the High Court to decide on the case within four weeks.

YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy acquired all the key evidences related to the cash for vote scam and submitted them to the ACB Court requesting for inclusion of Chandrababu Naidu’s name in the case. Based on this, ACB Court ordered resuming of investigation, but Chandrababu Naidu again managed to get stay order from the High Court. Challenging this, Ramakrishna Reddy moved Supreme Court and the apex court ordered Hyderabad HC to decide the case within four weeks. With the latest order from Supreme Court, the hearing is taking place.

ACB acquired key evidence of audio recording of conversation between Anglo Indian nominated MLA Stephenson and Chandrababu Naidu over the phone. Forensic lab reports also confirmed the voice of Chandrababu Naidu.

It may be recalled that TDP MLA Revanth Reddy caught red handed, while handing over the Rs 50 lakh cash to the nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson. Revanth Reddy and his aide allegedly offered the amount towards advance as part of the Rs five crore deal to vote for the TDP candidate. Subsequently, on May 31, the ACB arrested Reddy. Based on a complaint by Stephenson, the ACB officials held Revanth, Sebastian Harry and Uday Simha. In May 2015, Revanth Reddy and his aide had gone to the residence of Stephenson at Lallaguda in Secunderabad to hand over the cash when the ACB sleuths caught them offering the bribe.
