Hyderabad: A surge in Dengue cases in the city has become concerned for the denizens as Fever Hospital alone has confirmed 76 cases in October.

The scenario is same across the state as 1,279 cases were confirmed by October 2 as against 412 positive cases in August. The findings were reported by Union health ministry's ‘National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme’.

We multiply confirmed figures at Fever Hospital by three or four times to get an idea of the actual number of cases in city hospitals for estimation

Meanwhile, officials from Health department said that many cases go unnoticed and actual number would figure much more.

An official said that only state-run hospitals - Gandhi, Osmania, Fever and few corporate hospitals notify the dengue cases.

“We multiply confirmed figures at Fever Hospital by three or four times to get an idea of the actual number of cases in city hospitals for estimation,” said a Health official.

Meanwhile, experts said that civic body hasn’t made efforts to sensitize people to destroy mosquito-breeding sites and ill effects caused by water stagnation.
