Three Die In Collision Between Two Trucks

Korba: Three persons were killed and another one injured Sunday in a collision between two trucks in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, police said.

The accident occurred near Parla village under Bango police station area, a local police official said.

The deceased included the driver of a truck and two helpers, he said, adding that the driver of another truck sustained minor injuries.

The deceased driver is identified as Bablu Yadav (35), and the helpers as Santosh Mishra (43) and Anil Kumar Yadav (19). They were residents of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, he said.

The injured was admitted in local hospital, the official said, adding that a case has been registered. PTI

Three drug peddlers held in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Three members of a drug peddling gang including a student were arrested here Sunday and narcotic substances seized from them, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team nabbed the gang of drug peddlersfrom Banjara Hills and seized 100-ml of Hash oil, nine pills of Ecstasy, five LSD Blots and one gram of MDMA drug and three cell phones, from their possession, an official release from the city police said.

Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is sold in tablets or in liquid form, and is known to be one of the most potent 'mood-changing' chemicals while methylenedioxy- methamphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as 'Molly' or 'Ecstasy', is used as a recreational or party drug.

During interrogation, the accusedconfessed that they procured the drugs from Vishakhapatnam and Bengaluru and used to sell it to their friends and other known persons to make money, it said. PTI

Man held for "sexually assaulting" minor girl in Kerala

Kottayam:A 63-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl in Thalayolaparambu in the district, police said Sunday.

Yusuf from Muppathadam in Ernakulam district was arrested in Thrissur on Saturday, they said without divulging further details.

The accused had left Thalayolaparambu recently when he came to know that the police have started investigation into the case based on a complaint.

He has been charged under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, police said.PTI

Body found floating in canal in Jammu

Jammu: Panic gripped Trikuta Nagar here Sunday when a body was found floating in Ranbir canal, police said.

Panic-stricken passers-by informed the police about the body, they said.

The body has been sent to postmortem, police said, adding the incident is being probed

Gang of five robbers nabbed in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Murad Nagar Police have arrested a gang of five robbers from the bypass road in Surana village here, police said Sunday.

Muntrim, Someen, Kaley, Nabi and Amir, all natives of Baghpat district, were arrested Saturday night from the bypass road, which connects Murad Nagar with Baghpat, and 300 bags of stolen cement were recovered from them, they added.

Two country-made pistols and three live cartridges were also seized from their possession, they said.

Superintendent of Police (rural) Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said truck driver Ratan Singh Yadav, of Sikndrarau town in Hathras district, was found dead on Friday.

The accused looted Yadav's canter truck, which was ferrying a cement consignment from Bulandshahar to Noida, on the intervening night of May 30 and 31, he said.

The accused allegedly shot dead Yadav and dumped his body near the Delhi-Meerut road in Duhai village, which is under Murad Nagar Police Station limits, the SP said.

The accused confessed to the crime, and said they used to sell stolen iron bars and cement in Baghpat and Meerut districts, the officer added. PTI CORR

2 cops killed after car hits their motorcycle in Bareilly

Bareilly : Two policemen were killed when a speeding luxury car hit their motorcycle in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district, police said on Sunday.

The accident occurred late Saturday night in Fatehganj on the Lucknow-Delhi road, they said.

Sub-inspector Rajveer Singh (45) and head constable Rajneesh Kumar (35) died on the spot after the speeding car hit their motorcycle near a roadside eatery, police said.

Anand Sharma, the car driver, has been taken into custody, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Bareily, RK Pandey said.

A case has been registered and necessary action is being taken, the DIG added. PTI
