Biocon R&D Centre to Come Up In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: India's leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical company Biocon will soon establish a dedicated research and development (R&D) centre in Hyderabad and will also expand its existing operations here.

The company Managing Director Kiran Mazumdar Shaw told today while speaking at the CEO's Round Table in BioAsia conference being held at HICC here. The round table was moderated by IT and Industries minister of Telangana, K T Rama Rao.

The CEO's Round Table saw, apart from Biocon MD, heads of Novartis, Merck and GE also participating along with KTR. During this talk, Shaw announced that Biocon's R&D centre will come up at Genome Valley in Hyderabad and said that around 1000 high skill job opportunities would be created through this centre as well as existing Biocon in Hyderabad will double its manpower.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw appreciated the efforts of minister in encouraging innovation and high-tech science industries. She also said that such leaders are inspiration for everyone. In the same breath, she also appreciated Hyderabad city and wished it would double its growth. She suggested that a committee with experts from all sectors, industrialists and government officials should be formed to draw a roadmap for further development of Hyderabad.

Minister KT Rama Rao welcomed Biocon's decision to set up R&D centre and thanked Kiran Mazumdar Shaw for her faith on this city
