Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had agreed to the Special package, instead of the Special Category Status(SCS).” said Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Communist parties conducted a two day protest at the Jantar mantar in the capital city demanding Special Category Status to AP.

After the protest MP D. Raju, CPI state secretary Rama Krishna, and Pratekya Hoda Sadhana Samithi president Chalasani Srinivas held a meeting with the finance minister Arun Jaitley over the SCS.

Arun Jaitley added, Chandrababu had agreed for the special package instead of Special Category Status, when the Union offered him the former as it could not grant SCS. Rs. 3,500 crores has been sanctioned for the capital, but nothing has been built there.

Union Minister added, according to the bifurcation Act only five main buildings are to be funded by the Union government and all the backward districts in the state will receive a grant of Rs 350 crores in the near future.

The leaders requested Arun Jaitley for SCS instead of special package. For the basic infrastructure to be built it takes 90 % of the funds, they added.

CPM national chief secretary Sitaram Yechury, who participated in the protest, said that if AP were to get anything it is only after the political leadership at the Centre changes. He questioned BJP, as to why they are not able to implement the bifurcation assurances. Others present in the protest were CPI Narayana, Rama Krishna, CPM Madhu, Chalasani Srinivas.
