Muslim Youth Arrested, Tortured For Protests Against Chandrababu

Muslim youth placed under arrest in Guntur police station - Sakshi Post

Guntur: The Andhra Pradesh police on Tuesday arrested eight Muslim youth who were protesting against the government in demand for the rights of the minorities, at the 'Nara Hamara TDP Hamara' program here at the BR stadium. Trampling ruthlessly over the fundamental rights of the Muslim youth, the police placed them under arrest for around 2 days, and booked them under false cases. Ironically, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, during the meeting, said that the State government was focusing on ensuring the welfare of the minorities.

According to reports, the police have arrested the youth from Nandyal in Kurnool district, for raising slogans against Chandrababu's failure to include members from the minority community in his Cabinet. It is learnt that the Muslim youth had been tortured by the police.

On the other side, family members of the youth are worried over the arrest. Adding that their cell phones have been seized by the police, they raised slogans of "Chandrababu Traitor of Muslims'. "Is this the all-round development that Chandrababu aspires? Why is Chandrababu behaving like this after he said that he would ensure the welfare of Muslims? Why did Chandrababu make false promises during Nandya bye-elections? We demand that our children be immediately released." parents of the arrested youth said.

In protest against the arrest of the Muslim youth, YSR Congress party leaders staged protests in Kurnool and Nandyal towns on Wednesday night. The party's Kurnool constituency coordinator Hafeez Khan and YSRCP leader from Nandyal Shilpa Ravi met the families of the youth and expressed their sympathies.
