Alia Didn’t Want to Be a Mere Prop in Prabhas’ Saaho

Prabhas has become the most popular star across the nation after the Baahubali franchise. Who would miss a chance to pair up with Prabhas?

His upcoming film is a Hindi film titled Saaho. Directed by Sujeeth, the film features Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. Since the beginning of the film, the makers of the movie had planned to rope in Anushka Shetty as the lead actress but it didn't materialise due to weight issues. Later, Shraddha Kapoor came on board to play the actor's love interest.

But you know what? The makers first had Alia Bhatt in their mind to play the lead actress role if reports doing the rounds are anything to go by. But we hear that Alia rejected the offer saying she didn't want to be a mere prop in the film which happens in the case of most southern films where hero is the center of attraction.

Now, another reason we think she rejected could be because of Karan Johar. We know Alia did her debut with KJO's Production House Dharma.

Also Karan wanted to make a film with Prabhas post Baahubali which didn't happen due to remuneration issues. So being from the KJO camp could have been another reason for Alia rejecting Saaho. But reports coming in from Mumbai filmnagar circles suggest that even Karan convinced her to take it up. Anyway the role finally fell into Shraddha's kitty who readily lapped it up.

The shooting of the film has completed 50% already and is slated for release next year. Saaho will be releasing in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. The filmmakers want to cash in on the craze of Baahubali and thus speeding things up.
