YSRCP stages walkout over drought relief

YSRCP stages walkout over drought relief - Sakshi Post

Protesting against the paltry drought relief to Andhra Pradesh due to the negligent attitude of the State Government, Opposition YSRCP on Tuesday staged a walkout from the legislative assembly.

Speaking in the house, leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy poohpoohed the Government claims that the water table has risen in the state. "If this is true, why is it that people are forced to walk several miles to fetch water in Vizianagaram, East Godavari and Prakasam districts. He said the delay in submitting the drought report by the State Government was responsible for the paltry allocations. He said due to this, AP could get only Rs 430 crore and 280 crore in two installments as against the demand of Rs 2340 crore. He said the farmers, who should have got input subsidy by September, were yet to get it.
Protesting against the Government's lackadaisical attitude, the YSRCP MLAs staged a walkout.
