YSRCP opposes projects for political gains - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: YSR Congress has demanded the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments to refrain from being competitive in utilizing water resources in the larger interests of people’s needs and stick to what is mentioned in the State Reorganisation Act

“Andhra Pradesh Government taking up Pattiseema and Telangana in response going for Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project, which do not find a place in the State Division Act, is objectionable and the two governments should not take up projects for personal and political gains,” party senior leader Dr MV Mysoora Reddy told reporters here on Friday.

Any new project to be taken up on the Godavari or Krishna rivers should have the permission of the respective Water Boards and Central Water Commission and the Governments cannot start them for political or personal gains, he said.

The TDP government has no time to react in an appropriate manner to the Palamuru project announced by Telangana government as the former is neck deep in cash for vote scam and is trying to wriggle out of it, he said.

People are opposed to Pattiseema as is does not benefit the farmers of Godavari and Krishna delta nor is it beneficial to Rayalaseema, it is being taken up for personal gains and Palamuru seems to be for political gains.

The State Reorganisation Act clearly mentions about the time-bound completion of Polvaram project which was put on the back burner and the two states are taking projects which are not mentioned in the Act and lack Central assistance, he said adding that there is no permission from the Krishna or Godavari River Management Authorities.

The upland areas of Nagarjunasagar are drought prone and both the Governments have ignored it and our Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has written a letter to the concerned officials. The Centre should intervene and resolve the issue, he said.

The undivided Andhra Pradesh was the lower riparian state of Maharashtra and Karnataka and after the division a third State of Telangana has come above Andhra Pradesh, he said.

To prove a point of integrity and democratic norms in the ensuing MLC elections, we have decided to field candidates only where we have full strength and it is for the ruling party to follow suit, he said.
