The YSR Congress party MPs in the Lok Sabha, submitted their resignations to the Speaker on Friday to protest against the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh by the Centre. YSCRP MPs PV Midhun Reddy, Vara Prasada Rao, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, and YS Avinash Reddy submitted their resignations. The members will soon begin their hunger strike at AP Bhavan in New Delhi. Several members of the party have already reached Delhi to take part in the strike. The public has pledged their unwavering support to the party and promised to support the party to achieve SCS to state at any cost.

The YSR Congress Party has intensified its agitation over Special Category Status To Andhra Pradesh. The party MPs had announced their decision to resign from their Lok Sabha membership several weeks ago. The decision was taken on the directions of YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy earlier, who said that they would do so on the last day of the Lok Sabha budget session. The MPs will now go on a hunger strike in the national capital. This is a step to build pressure on the BJP-led NDA government to fulfill promises made to the state at the time of bifurcation, foremost among which is Special Category Status to the state.

In a press conference held on Thursday, YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy expressed his displeasure over the fact that 12 notices to move no-confidence motion were not taken up for discussion in the House.

YSR Congress Party chief and AP Leader of Opposition who pioneered the SCS movement has been reiterating the benefits it could bring to the state. In a step towards achieving the goal, party workers, volunteers and youth will hold statewide protests for SCS. The party chief has also charted out a course of action to bring pressure on the Centre to grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

It's worth mentioning here that Leader of the Special Category Status Committee met YS Jagan recently in Guntur asking him to lead the all-party delegation to fight for the cause of AP. The YSRCP chief pledged his unconditional support maintaining that the interest of AP was paramount to him and his party. YSRCP members from across the constituencies will hold a candlelight march today for SCS.
