YSRCP gets whip power, TDP strategy boomerangs

The State Election Commission gave the whip issuing power to the YSR Congress Party for the upcoming election of chairpersons for municipal,MPTC and ZPs.

The necessary orders have already reached all the municipal commissioners, MPDOs and others. The whip is applicable for all those who won on behalf of YSR Congress Party in these elections.

The SEC order assumes significance as rival political parties are luring the members of YSR Congress Party saying that the party has no whip issuing power. With these orders, such strategies are bound to boomerang.

The elections for the post of municipal chairpersons and mayors would be held on July 3. MPP elections would be held on July 4 and the elections for the post of ZP chairpersons would be held on July 5.

Anyone voting against the whip, would be automatically disqualified. Similarly, a person will be disqualified if he is absent at the time of voting after his or her party issues a whip. Further, a person will be disqualified if he or she is neutral in the voting.

The commission, in its orders, clarified that all the YSR Congress Party members have to vote as per the wish of their party leadership in these elections.
