YSRCP Demands Probe Into Encounter 

Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party on Friday demanded a probe into the recent encounter with Maoists on Andhra-Odisha Border on October 24 that claimed the lives of 30 maoists and one policeman.

Speaking at the central party office in Hyderabad, YSRCP official spokesperson Vasireddy Padma stated that YSRCP was fully against terrorism and believed that any struggle should be taken up in a peaceful manner and within the boundaries of the Constitution.

Echoing views that there could be more to the encounter than what the government claims, Vasireddy Padma pointed out that both the media and civil rights organizations expressed doubts that the Malkangiri encounter.

On the other side, both the DGP as well as the state government claimed that the October 24 encounter that claimed the lives of 30 Maoists and a policeman and leaving another policeman injured, was a genuine one.

Since there were opposing views on what transpired, she said the state government should order an impartial investigation into the AOB encounter.
