YS Jagan Calls People To Unite And Protect Their Lands From TDP Govt
Kona (Krishna District): YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy called on the people to unite and protect their lands from the anti-people land pooling policies of the Andhra Pradesh government.
Addressing a massive rally here on Thursday, he said the policies of the TDP government are benefiting only the businessmen and rich entrepreneurs and are not in the interests of the common man. Citing several instances, he said chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu started the capital city project with a few hundred acres of land and is now grabbed over one lakh acres of land in the name of land pooling. "Farmers who are protecting the land for needs such as their children's education or marriage purposes are being forced to part with their land. They are then paid peanuts for the land which is well below the market price," YS Jagan said and added that where is the justice if the government promises to give only Rs 30,000 to the farmers per annum which is again over a period of ten years.
How can the state government place restrictions on the farmers to purchase or sell their own lands in the name of development? Aren’t the concerns of the farmers of no interest to the chief minister?
"Farmers can easily get more than this amount if they approach the banks and also retain possession of their lands," he added. The state government is grabbing several acres of lands from the farmers but is giving them a mere 1,000 square yards as compensation, he said and questioned, "is the government giving alms to the farmers?"
"This brings into question the promises made by Chandrababu prior to elections for the welfare of the farmers. Post elections, the chief minister is busy striking deals with the businessmen and looting the state," the YSRCP president said. Describing the position of a chief minister as a father's role, YS Jagan said a father does not loot from his own children but Chandrababu Naidu is busy looting the state and is least concerned about the problems faced by the people at the grassroot level.
The people of Andhra Pradesh have already seen three years of the TDP misrule and god-willing within a year there will be elections in the state where people get a chance to teach the TDP a lesson, YS Jagan said. He concluded his address to the people in Kona with the remarks, "Let me assure you that the people are unhappy with the past three years of the TDP rule and are eager to dismiss the government in less than two years."
