Hyderabad: Relatives of a patient who was admitted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) allegedly attacked a Casualty Medical Officer (CMO) in the early hours of Monday.

The incident was reported at around 5.30 am. Identified as Sri Nikhil, the patient was rushed to the emergency wing of NIMS in Hyderabad with injuries suffered in a road accident.

As per the reports, the patient's relatives allegedly attacked the on-duty CMO, Dr. Anvesh for delaying the required treatment.

They reportedly attacked the officer over delay in producing the reports of a CT scan of the victim. However, the hospital doctors stated that the attending doctors had already completed the required CT scans and other diagnostic tests on the injured person within an hour of admission.

The resident doctors of NIMS alleged that the treatment was being carried out according to the laid out Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) but the relatives of the patient attacked the attending doctor for no reason. The doctors further said that the relatives were in an inebriated condition and behaving erratically threatening the doctors and nurses claiming that they were associates of Minister Talasani Yadav.

The Punjagutta police, who were alerted of the incident, took control of the situation on Monday morning.
