Jagan Ane Nenu, Promise To Ban Belt Shops In AP: YS Jagan

YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy - Sakshi Post

Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed a massive public gathering in Peddapuram constituency of East Godavari district, as part of his mass outreach programme, Praja Sankalpa Yatra on Day 220. The people's leader thanked the public for joining him in the padayatra.

YS Jagan said, "Thousands of people joined me in the padayatra today, while, on the other side, many met me to express their difficulties and grievances. I thank one and all who are here."

In Peddapuram constituency, local public told me that even though local MLA Chinarajappa is also the Deputy Chief Minister and the Home Minister, a total of six murders were seen in the constituency in the last four years, he said. Pensions are not being given in time in this constituency, YS Jagan said.

The Polavaram project after being inaugurated by former Chief Minister, late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy (DR YSR), was initiated and constructed speedily during his regime, but, in Chandrababu's rule, the project works are moving with snail's speed, he felt. YS Jagan remarked that the project is a primary source of money-making and corruption for Chandrababu. Also, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu's relative is indulging in taking up the contract works in Polavaram project, he said.

"Chandrababu is good at claiming credit for others' work. During Rajanna Rajyam, the Polavaram left and right canals have been completed. But, Chandrababu claimed that he had completed 56% of the project works," the Leader of Opposition observed. On the other side, Telangana's Kaleshwaram project is being built in jet speed and the have recently carried out a trial run from the project, he added.

Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for lack of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for rice crops, YS Jagan said that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government had completely failed to deliver on its 2014 election promises.
"
I spoke with a few farmers, who have explained their sorry state in the last four years. The government did not provide the minimum support price (MSP) for the rice crop. Farmers of this region, who are in distress, have informed me that the rice crop is hardly given a price of Rs 1,130 by the brokers, while the MSP is Rs 1,550," YS Jagan said.

In the four years of Chandrababu's rule, not even a single crop was given MSP, he said. The reason lies in the fact that Chandrababu is the leader of the brokers. Chandrababu's Heritage company purchase crops for less price from farmers and sells its products for 3-4 times the price, said.

The sugarcane crop is hardly given a support price of Rs 2800 per quintal, while in Uttar Pradesh, the government is providing Rs 3,250 for the sugarcane farmers, he asserted.

"During Rajanna Rajyam, the Brahma Deva lift irrigation project 1, Brahma Deva lift irrigation project 2, Lingala lift irrigation project and other projects in the Delta eastern canal have been reinstated. The Medapadu lift irrigation project was inaugurated by Dr YSR to provide drinking water, irrigation waters in rabi season in the region. In Rameshwarampet, Kanuru, Kondapalli and Walthimmapuram, around 1200 dalits were given lands decades ago. In additiopn to that, Dr YSR distributed 670 acres of land, and borewells were laid in the region." the YSRCP Chief said.

Pollutants from industries are causing diseases like diarrhoea and cancer in the region. More than 100 diarrhoea cases have been registered from Godavari delta region.

The Peddapuram hospital, which is a 100 bed facility, has only 58 beds, while out of the mandatory 12 doctors only 4 doctors are available. The hospital lacks a Pediatrician, a gynaecologist and an Orthopaedic doctor. None of the 3 ambulances is working. In the Samarlakota hospital, only 6 out of its capacity of 30 beds are operational. Only two out of the required five doctors are present.

The AP CM promised to build a house for every poor man in the state—"how many houses has he built till date?" he asked. In Dr. YSR's regime, 20,000 houses were built in this constituency, but not even a single house has been built in the last four years, YS Jagan said.

With a lot of pride, I can say that Dr YSR built 2,400 houses for the poor in this constituency, 1000 houses in Peddapuram and 1400 houses in Samarlakota, while Chandrababu has occupied 44 acres of land, where he proposed to build flats for local people, he said. The CM is planning to sell the flats at the rate of Rs 2,000 per feet, while the builder rate is only Rs 1,000 per feet, YS Jagan said.

If YSRCP comes to power, the Arogyasri scheme, which saved many lives during Rajanna Rajyam, will be reinstated along with the 108 ambulances which had saved many lives under YSR rule, he pointed out. The 108 vehicles used to reach the patient within 20 minutes of intimation, he said. Rajanna Rajyam had an ambulance per mandal while today, not even a single ambulance is available per constituency, he remarked.

The handloom weavers in this constituency have long been ignored by the Chandrababu government. Subsidies are not given on wool, APCO dues are not paid, while the lack of orders means the handloom industry is in tatters.

YS Jagan pointed that the women's self-help groups were cheated and were not given loan waivers.

YS Jagan informed that in the neighbouring states like Karnataka and Telangana, fuel prices were lesser by Rs 6-7. The YSRCP Chief added that one need not be surprised if TDP promises one kilogram of gold and a Benz car to every household in the state during the next elections.

The Leader of Opposition pointed out that earlier every house was paying electricity charges between Rs 50-100 while now the charges have gone up to Rs 500-1000 per house. He observed that over the last four years the AP CM had hiked the electricity tariff three times.

"I need the support of the people of the state for reinstating the region," he said. After coming to power, the YSRCP will revive the fees reimbursement scheme and will extend financial support to the women's organizations and self help groups, he promised.

The YSRCP Chief told the massive public gathering that Chandrababu had promised to give Rs 2,000 to every household without employment. It had been 48 months since he had come to power yet no household had got that amount. So the government owed Rs Rs 96,000 to every household in the state, he said and called upon all the unemployed youth to question the TDP chief about it.

In the name of Janmabhoomi committees, Chandrababu is running a mafia network in every village, YS Jagan observed.

After YSRCP comes to power, every poor man will be provided with a house, which will be registered in the name of the women in the household, to facilitate bank loans at just 0.25 per cent.

In 2014, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu vowed to ban all liquor shops in the state, but, after four years years of his rule, he has ensured that every village had a liquor shop, YS Jagan said. Women in this constituency had a common grievance on the mushrooming of belt shops and complained that liquor addiction was destroying the lives of youth, he added.

"Jagan Ane Nenu", hereby promise you all that when we come to power in 2019, all belt shops in the state will be abolished.
