Police Caution NRIs On Phishing, Email Hacking

Hyderabad: Cyberabad East Police have warned Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) about their emails and other digital data that is saved on the internet from being hacked and phishing by the internet fraudsters.

With several complaints coming in over data theft on internet and phishing, police on Saturday have issued an advisory urging people especially NRI techies not to share their confidential details like passwords and crucial information to any one while chatting through mails or any other platforms on internet.

Police warn netizens of Email scams by hackers

After taking the email into their control, hackers are selectively targeting persons that they know through the network of their friends of friends. After luring them onto the chat through emails, the hackers will manage to believe the persons they were chatting with, saying that due to some technical problems, their bank accounts are frozen and they are unable to withdraw the money from their account. Later, they request them to share their net banking details with them like User ID, Password, so that they can draw the money abroad.
