AP Bandh on April 16 - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: The Special Category Status (SCS) Committee has called for Andhra Pradesh bandh on April 16, as part of the efforts to intensify the stir for achieving SCS to AP. The YSR Congress Party along with Left parties in the state have extended their full support for the bandh call. In protest against the central government's attitude in the Parliament, this bandh call was given, SCS Committee Chairman Chalasani Srinivas informed the media here today.

The SCS Committee Chairman criticised Prime Minister for taking up a fast and said that the bandh was being held for the benefit of the state and not to disturb people. "And this is the reason we will not stop essential and emergency services." He called upon people from all walks of life to support the bandh and make it successful.

YSRCP Spokesperson Parthasarathy confirmed that their party was supporting the bandh call given by the SCS Committee. He said that YSRCP will be in the forefront for achieving SCS to the state. Sensing the pulse of the people AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had changed his stance in respect of SCS. He said the bandh would highlight the misdeeds of TDP government.

CPM State leader Ch Babu Rao said in protest against central government's false attitude over the state their party was supporting the bandh call. SCS would be achieved only through people's revolt over the centre, he asserted. Babu Rao criticised Chandrababu for organising Happy City Summit while the state was boiling over the SCS issue and added that it was only to misguide people.
