With an increase in the number of coronavirus cases in Telangana, the Bhadradri-Kothagudem police have urged Maoists who have tested positive for COVID-19 to surrender.

Bhadradri Kothagudem Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt in a media statement said that they have got information regarding numerous Maoist activists and leaders testing positive for COVID-19, but they were not able to receive medical help.

According to a leading English daily, SP Sunil Dutt stated, "Members of CPI (Maoist), including a few leaders in  the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border areas, and the Dandakaranya special zonal committee, had contracted the coronavirus."

He also claimed that the senior leaders are not allowing some of the party members who wanted to surrender to seek medical attention. It is also said that the top leaders were receiving treatment whereas the lower rung of activists were neglected. He urged the activists and workers who have tested positive for coronavirus to surrender, assuring medical help.
