Video of Deer Chewing Snake Goes Viral, Netizens Puzzled

A video of a deer eating a snake has gone viral on social media. Recently, Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda shared this video which has amassed over 2.43 lakh views and over 2000 views.

The visuals showed the deer chewing a small and non-venomous snake unmindful of its surroundings by the roadside. The man who shot the video can be heard muttering, “Is he eating a snake?”

The video has left many people surprised as most of us have seen deers munching on green grass. However, some academic sources say that it is not uncommon for deer to eat meat, especially when food is scarce. In the winter months, when plant life is less abundant, deer may turn to eating small animals, such as snakes, to supplement their diet.
