TDP MLA Nimmala Rama Naidu Arrested Amid High Drama in Palakollu

 - Sakshi Post

West Godavari district: Tension prevailed in Palakollu city following the arrest of TDP MLA Nimmala Rama Naidu who had given a protest call against the TIDCO house construction on Wednesday. The police did not allow the TDP leader to leave his residence and placed him under house arrest.

When the news of house arrest spread, the TDP workers arrived at Nimmala’s residence in huge numbers and started arguing with the police deployed outside the leader’s house. Meanwhile, Nimmala sneaked out of his house and reached the Ambedkar statue to organise the protest.

Many TDP workers also gathered here to register their protest. Subsequently, the YSRCP leaders and workers arrived here. In response to Nimmala’s call, YSRCP Palakollu assembly constituency incharge Godala Gopi organised a counter-protest near Ambedkar statue in the city. A little later, the Janasena workers also reached the venue which caused a traffic jam in the area.

The police rushed to Ambedkar statue and asked the party workers to vacate the place as they did not have permission required to hold demonstrations. They arrested Nimmala after the TDP leader resisted and obstructed the police in discharging their duties. The TDP legislator was bundled in a car and was taken towards Bhimavaram.
