Deadline Set: Installation of Interactive Flat Panels and Broadband in Schools by December's Third Week

Amaravati, Dec 1: Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed officials to complete the second phase works of Nadu-Nedu in schools according to the schedule. The focus should be on the proper maintenance of schools that have undergone renovations in the first phase.

During a review meeting on the Education Department held at the Camp Office on Friday, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for special attention from teachers towards students who may be lagging behind their peers in classrooms. He urged them to take necessary steps to ensure these students catch up with others.

Furthermore, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed officials to finish the installation of Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs) in all schools by the third week of December and provide broadband connections to all schools. He also urged them to take steps to distribute Vidya Kanuka kits to students before the schools reopen.

The Chief Minister was apprised that works worth Rs.3,746.82 crores are underway in the second phase of Nadu-Nedu, providing 11 types of necessary facilities to schools. Officials also reported that work is progressing rapidly in junior colleges.

Regarding the distribution of tablets to class 8 students starting from December 21, officials mentioned that the tablets would be loaded with all necessary apps. The use of tablets has shown positive results, with teachers and students utilizing them for an average of 77 and 67 minutes daily, respectively. Additionally, 7,000 tablets have been repaired and put back into use.

To address the dropout rate in schools, officials highlighted that 1,49,515 previously failed students, including class 10 students, have reenrolled in schools, with volunteers playing a key role. Nandyala district achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first district with 100 percent enrollment in schools.

When officials mentioned that 87 percent of students in classes 3 to 9 are taking their unit examinations in English medium, the Chief Minister encouraged efforts to increase this percentage. They reported that the state's average percentage of students taking examinations in English medium is 84.11, compared to the national average of 37.03 percent.

Officials also shared that students are receiving one-hour daily training in TOEFL, and efforts are underway to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum in schools. A study on the curriculum, subject plan, assessment, and teacher training will be conducted, with teachers receiving training in IB starting next year based on recommendations from IB specialists.

Furthermore, students in class 6 and above will undergo training in future skills with the assistance of experts from Engineering Colleges. Languages such as French, Spanish, German, and Japanese will also be taught to students in classes 9 and 10 based on their preferences.
