Chandrababu Stole Credit for Google, Ignored Medical Colleges: YS Jagan at Student Wing Meeting

AP Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a sharp attack on TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of “credit theft” in the Google project and “damaging” rather than improving the state’s medical education system. Speaking at a meeting with the YSRCP student wing’s state, district, and constituency leaders, Jagan discussed the importance of students in building a transparent political system and urged them to grow like Tulasi plants in politics — strong, pure, and enduring.

“Politics Should Begin with Purity and Purpose”

Addressing the gathering, Jagan said, “A corruption-free political system begins with you. The foundation for good politics is laid during student life. You belong to Gen-Z, and you are the guiding force for the future. Politics should produce leaders whom people can proudly identify with.”

He emphasized that every student must strive for self-sufficiency and acquire the skills necessary to compete globally. “We must plan and move systematically; great results take time—sometimes 10 to 15 years. A leader’s vision today shapes the lives of future generations,” he said.

“YSRCP Transformed the Education System”

Jagan highlighted his government’s initiatives in the education sector, noting that the YSRCP administration introduced significant reforms from KG to PG. “We improved government schools to compete with private institutions, introduced the CBSE-to-IB curriculum journey, and made quality education accessible to all,” he said.

He reminded that under YSRCP rule:

• Full fee reimbursement was implemented for the first time.
• ₹12,609 crore was disbursed under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme.
• ₹20,000 per year was provided to each student under Vasathi Deevena.
• Online courses from top global universities were made free through Edex.
• The number of NAAC-accredited colleges rose from 257 to 432 by 2024.

“These measures ensured that students didn’t need to take loans for education. But today, everything is being destroyed. Chandrababu Naidu seems intent on preventing children from studying,” Jagan alleged.

He stated that ₹6,200 crore in pending dues—₹4,000 crore in fee reimbursements and ₹2,200 crore under Vasathi Deevena—have left parents struggling with loans for their children’s education.

We Created Over Six Lakh Jobs

Highlighting employment generation under YSRCP rule, Jagan said, “We created 6.3 lakh government jobs, including 1.2 lakh posts in village and ward secretariats, and regularized 52,000 RTC employees. We also generated 33 lakh jobs through 4.7 lakh MSME units. The MSME sector thrived because it trusted that our government would stand with them.”

He accused the current government of cutting jobs and halting recruitment, saying such actions would reverse the progress made in recent years.

Chandrababu Stole Credit on Google, Ignored Medical Colleges

Jagan alleged that Naidu falsely claimed credit for Google’s presence in Andhra Pradesh. “In reality, it was YSRCP that initiated the groundwork, bringing in the Singapore cable connection and facilitating Google’s data center partnership with Adani in 2022. We provided land and necessary infrastructure. Because of the steps we took, Google is coming now,” he said.

He also cited YSRCP’s contributions to infrastructure projects like the Mulapeta Port and Bhogapuram Airport, which he said began under his leadership.

On the other hand, Jagan accused Naidu of privatizing medical colleges, calling it “a disgraceful move.” “By 2019, there were only 12 government medical colleges, and Naidu hadn’t added even one. In just three years—excluding two COVID years—we established 17 new government medical colleges, one in every district, adding 2,550 new seats, half of which are free or low-cost,” he stated.

He mentioned that Pulivendula Medical College received 50 additional seats from the Centre, but Naidu wrote a letter rejecting them. “He refuses to invest ₹1,000 crore a year to strengthen medical education. Instead, he sells public assets through scams,” Jagan alleged.

Students Must Take Responsibility

Urging students to take an active role in shaping the future, Jagan said, “It’s your duty to question such injustices. The ongoing One Crore Signature Campaign is your chance to stand up. Be active at the village level and strengthen student and youth wings. The future is in your hands—the government that comes next will depend on your decision.”

He announced that anti-privatization rallies against the medical college policy will now be held on November 11 and 12, and statewide protests on fee reimbursement are planned for December. “Until then, let’s give Chandrababu some time to act,” he concluded.
