Chandrababu Cannot Even Run A Hospital: YS Jagan Blasts TDP Govt Over KGH Power Cut

YSRCP President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a blistering attack on the TDP government and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, holding them squarely responsible for the “collapse of governance” at the King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam, where patients reportedly suffered for hours due to a prolonged power outage.
In a strongly worded statement, the former Chief Minister accused the ruling dispensation of criminal negligence and utter disregard for the lives of the poor in North Andhra. “Mr. Chandrababu Naidu… do you even know what governance means? Would you let government hospitals deteriorate like this?” Jagan asked, calling the KGH crisis a “shameful reflection of misplaced priorities and failed leadership.”
According to Jagan, power supply at KGH went off around 12:30 pm and wasn’t restored even after midnight, plunging critical care units into chaos for nearly 12 hours. “Patients, attendants, and medical staff faced immense difficulties. Operations had to be stopped midway, and there was chaos in several wards.”
Questioning the Chief Minister’s much-touted talk of “vision” and “online governance,” Jagan said, “While you sit in the Secretariat talking routine lines about vision and dashboards, patients at this major hospital suffered greatly due to a power outage. Why such disdain toward government hospitals? Why this level of negligence?”
The YSRCP chief noted that KGH, a lifeline for thousands in Uttarandhra, had two diesel generators of 2,000 KVA capacity and 1,700 oxygen outlets — yet none came to the rescue when power was cut. “How could such a situation arise in a hospital that caters to the poorest of the poor? Is there no responsibility left in this so-called ‘good governance’?” he asked.
Jagan contrasted the current state of affairs with his government’s record, stating that under YSRCP rule, the hospital was strengthened “in every possible way.”
“We upgraded infrastructure, added new operation theatres, cath labs, mother and child blocks, and modernized departments. We ensured 24-hour uninterrupted power backup and set up a 200-bed critical block.”
He alleged that within months of the TDP returning to power, “everything built with care and purpose has collapsed.” “Did you not even perform maintenance on vital equipment? Why were power back-up systems not operational? Didn’t anyone care that patients were dying due to power failure?” Jagan thundered.
Holding Naidu personally responsible, he said, “Today, because of your incompetence and negligence, lives are being lost. Doesn’t your government have any accountability?”
The former Chief Minister warned that the incident at KGH was not an isolated case but part of a “pattern of decay” in public health administration under the TDP.
“You talk of vision, but where is your compassion? You boast of governance, but where is your responsibility?” he said, demanding an immediate inquiry into the hospital’s failure and justice for the victims.
