Director Nag Ashwin's Mahanati has received appreciated from all corners which was welcomed by the audiences on May 9. Mahanati is a biopic of legendary actress Savitri and the film showcased her rise to stardom. Mahanati as Nadigaiyar Thilagam was released in Tamil version which has put the box office on fire. The film is faring well at the worldwide box office. Thanks to the word of mouth reaction from the audiences which has been pulling the audiences in crowds towards the theatres. Film buffs can't stop gushing about the film. There were objections from Gemini Ganesan's family on projecting him in poor light.

Last we heard was that some makers were planning to make a documentary on Gemini Ganeshan to counter Mahanati. But nothing has been confirmed yet. Let's wait for an official word about Gemini Ganeshan film.

Mahanati is racing towards $2.5 million mark and is expected to touch the magic figure within a couple of days. It is the first women-centric film which has been reaching new heights each passing day without any lead actor. The film has raked in $25,483 on its nineteenth day at the box office. Currently, Mahanati total gross stands at $2,403,843 on foreign shores.
