Argentina Will Miss Goalkeeper Romero For World Cup

Buenos Aires: Sergio Romero, the goalkeeper of the Argentine team in the last two FIFA World Cups, has suffered an injury on his right knee and will be left out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

"Argentina's goalkeeper, Sergio Romero, will be removed from the list of 23 players who will participate in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The Manchester United player suffered today a joint blockage in his right knee," the Argentine Football Association (AFA) announced on its website on Tuesday, reports EFE news agency.

"Nahuel Guzman will be the goalkeeper who will replace Sergio Romero in the call," the AFA said on its official Twitter account.

The other two goalkeepers among the list of 23 players are River Plate FC's Franco Armani and Chelsea's Wilfredo Caballero.

Romero suffered the knee injury during afternoon training on Tuesday. (IANS)
