NDA should fulfill UPA’s 6 assurances to AP on bifurcation: Manmohan Singh

New Delhi: Former Prime Minister and Rajya Sabha member Dr Manmohan Singh spoke in Rajya Sabha on Friday on the assurances given to Andhra Pradesh at the time of bifurcation in 2014. He said as Prime Minister he had given six assurances to AP and now it’s responsibility of NDA government to fulfill them.

All those assurances were approved by the Cabinet. I had asked President to promulgate an ordinance in this regard. But, it was halted due to the election code

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley informed the House that several discussions on Special Status to AP took place.

“The Centre is committed on helping AP. 14th Finance Commission has made some recommendations. We’re exploring ways on how to benefit AP. We’ll resolve the problem in such a way that everybody feels satisfied. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already spoke to Andhra MPs,” said Jaitley.
