Hyderabad Rains Are Back, Commuters Caught Unawares

After a hot day, residents of Hyderabad were in for a surprise on Thursday evening as the skies opened up. Heavy rains splashed the city inundating roads and bringing the traffic to a standstill.
Commuters were seen soaked as they waited for the traffic to clear up. Cab services were available at surge pricing while auto rickshaws refused to commute for the fear of getting stuck.
Even though the MET had alerted the GHMC on a possible flood-like situation, Hyderabadis were hoping for a nornal day due to a respite from the showers over the last 24 hours.
Bad condition of roads made it impossible for the smooth movement of vehicles as they snaked through long snarls. Those on the roads were posting pictures on the social media and alerting other commuters to avoid localities where the situation was bad.
