Critic’s Review: 2.0 Best Sci-Fi Thriller in The History Of Indian Cinema

2Point0 Movie Review: So... here we are giving you the final verdict on the just released, most awaited movie of the year, 2Point0 or 2.0 featuring Rajinikanth Vs Akshay Kumar in another Good Vs Evil story. Even though the story sounds like old wine in a new bottle, what are the elements which make this film different? Has the audience liked what's offered to them? Let's find out...

Superhero Rajinikanth as Vaseegaran the scientist and Chitti (both versions) has been pitted against antagonist Akshay Kumar (Pakshi Raj or Bird king). The latter arrives minutes before the interval and after that manages to hold the audience under his spell. The film is being dubbed as a sequel to Shankar's earlier hit Enthiran (Robot). However, the makers deny any link between them. Is it really a sequel? Watch the film to find out.

The most striking thing about the movie, besides the lead actors' mind-blowing performances is definitely the VFX, a real feast to your eyes. It is apparent that the technical crew of 2Point0 have pushed the enveloped and delivered what was expected of them—an Indian film on par with a Hollywood sci-fi fantasy thriller. And if you want to truly enjoy the film, then do watch it in a 3D theatre. So when you w3atch the film, you will understand that the film was not all about good Vs Evil after all. Like Akki said before the release of the movie during promotions, the film does carry a message. The cell phone towers and the story of birds strikes a chord with environment loving citizens.

Rajinikanth is back. His signature style dialogue delivery, his trademark mannerisms for which fans throng theatres are all part of 2Point0. The striking visuals are a spectacle, particularly if you are into films like Transformers and wondered if there would ever be an Indian film on that scale. The VFX standards certainly comes close if not match the Hollywood benchmark.

A wronged person making a comeback to take revenge on the perpetrators of crime has been Shankar's favourite plot and he has explored the same here too as in his earlier movies like Anniyan.

Verdict: This mass entertainer is a treat for Rajinikanth fans and a must watch for those who appreciate Hollywood Sci-fi fantasies with great VFX. Go Watch it this weekend.
