Chandrababu Has Nothing To Offer But Antics: YS Jagan

Prakasam: AP Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy demanded that CM Chandrababu Naidu should support the no confidence motion against the BJP government.

The YSRCP has already announced that it will move a no confidence motion against the BJP government on March 21. The YSRCP chief cautioned the Chief Minister that he will be remembered as a traitor in the history of Andhra Pradesh, if he does not support the no confidence motion. "If Chandrababu wishes so, we are ready to advance the no confidence motion date from March 21. Even if the TDP comes forward to move the motion, the YSRCP assures it of its support in this regard. We have decided to place the no confidence motion on the 21st in order to give a deadline to the TDP," he added. Following Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's announcement and Chandrababu's response on Wednesday, the YSRCP Chief convened a press conference on Thursday amidst his historic Praja Sankalpa Yatra in Prakasam district's Santaravuru.

"Keeping in view the circumstances, there is nothing new in Arun Jaitley's announcement. He has repeated his words from September 8, 2016. But back then, Chandrababu has accepted the same by felicitating the Finance Minister. While praising them in the state assembly, Chandrababu brushed off the Special Category Status (SCS) issue saying it is a finished chapter and it is not beneficial to the state. Later, Chandrababu took a U-turn following an announcement of YSRCP MPs resignation and no-confidence motion," YS Jagan said at the press conference.

"It is only because of the people's victory that Chandababu has changed his stance. If Chandrababu wanted to remove his ministers from the Union ministry, why did he speak with centre on phone? He is still continuing as NDA Convenor. Chandrababu lacks accountability, values and sincerity, which are important qualities of a leader. If all the 25 MPs of the state support the motion, the centre will take the issue seriously. Let all the MPs resign on the last day of the Parliament session. The entire country would watch it, giving rise to a big debate. This will lead to added pressure on the centre to take the necessary course of action," he said.

On Recommendations Of The 14th Finance Commission

"Arun Jaitley has referred to the 14th Finance Commission several times. This is truly surprising. When he said these same words back then, I have called for a bandh. I even mentioned about this in the Assembly. Jaitley said 14th Finance Commission recommended not to give SCS for AP. But Abhijit Singh, member of 14th FC, said that he never recommended abolition of SCS, as per his clearly written recommendations. Before the beginning of the current Finance Commission, the then Congress Government has placed a cabinet resolution on March 2, 2014. They have clearly recommended SCS to AP. They have even sent the resolution to the Planning Commission for implementation. The Planning Commission was active until 31st December 2014, after which the Niti Aayog came into existence. The Planning Commission was active for 7 months in the BJP government. What was Chandrababu Naidu doing in those 7 months? Why doesn't the BJP government implement the decisions taken before the existence of the 14th Finance Commission?" asked the YSRCP Chief.

"Should have done this two years ago"

"If Chandrababu had done the same two years before, the SCS would have become a reality by now. This is a drama before the elections. It is not right on the centre's part to ignore Andhra Pradesh's interests because of elections in various states. The state was divided after making all the promises by both the ruling and opposition parties. Chandrababu tried to nullify our bandh protests for the SCS. The government has arrested youth in the Yuvabheri meetings and they were even booked under PD act," he added.

On The Third Front

" YSRCP will support any party that would give the SCS. We will not support BJP if they don't give the SCS. It looks like the Congress will not come to power. So I appeal to the people of Andhra Pradesh to ensure the victory of YSRCP MPs in all Parliamentary constituencies of the state in the next elections," he said.

"Chandrababu Influencing Media"

"Chandrababu is influencing the media and misleading the people. Corruption is thriving in the TDP governemnt. We have seen Chandrababu's part in the Vote-for-Note case where he tried to buy MLC's illegally. Had it been a government employee, he would have been jailed for such an action," he concluded.
