The epic walkathon -Praja Sankalpa Yatra or the mass contact initiative undertaken by the YSR Congress Party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has completed two years today i.e., Wednesday, November 6th. The Padayatra as it was popularly known first began on the same day in 2017 from Idupulapaya, after he paid respects to his father late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy's resting place.

YS Jagan as the leader of the Opposition, traversed through 13 districts, 135 assembly constituencies, 2516 villages for a period of 341 days covering 3648 Kms. He conducted and addressed 124 public rallies and 55 'Atmiya Sammelans' during the Padayatra, which finally culminated on January 9th, 2019 at Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district. Vijaya Sankalpa Sthupam, a pylon in commemoration of this Padayatra was inaugurated on the last day.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's mass outreach program Praja Sankalpa Yatra was one of its kinds. With an unprecedented public turnout in all places across the State, the people's leader directly interacted with 1.25 crore people. People from all regions, religions, caste, creed, men, women, children, senior citizens, tribals, govt officials etc., greeted the leader wherever he went and poured their hearts out to him, hopeful that he would be able to resolve their problems.

He made several promises in this journey, addressing various issues of farmers, industry, cottage industry, education, etc. The people of Andhra Pradesh had imposed faith in him with great hopes and which they showed through their votes in the General Elections. The result was a stupendous win in the General Elections where the YSRCP won 151 Assembly seats out of the 175 seats and 22 Parliamentary seats out of the 25 seats.

From the day of the swearing-in-ceremony and within three months of assuming charge as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has kept his promises. He first signed on the file where the pension for elderly was enhanced to RS 2,250 and continued to implement various welfare schemes in a phased manner and as promised in the Praja Sankalpa Yatra. He is the only Chief Minister to have appointed five Deputy Chief Ministers from five different regions of Andhra Pradesh — Rayalaseema, Prakasam, Krishna, Godavari and Vizag, representing different communities like SC, ST, ST, BC, and minority and Kapu community. This move was hailed by everyone as he sought to have a fair representation both region and community wise.

YS Jagan has also promulgated 19 different laws and ensured various welfare schemes were implemented, all of which were promised during the Praja Sankalpa Yatra. The timeline could be correlated to exactly what he had promised during the Padayatra.

Keeping to his word of simplifying the welfare schemes through his election manifesto called the Navaratnalu, YS Jagan has been systematically implementing the schemes as envisaged in the manifesto.

" God helps you if you are sincere in your approach and if your resolve is genuine." These were the words of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy after he successfully completed his epic walkathon - the Praja Sankalpa Yatra.
