Andhra Priest’s Suicide Selfie Goes Viral

East Godavari district: The suicide of a temple priest after he shot a selfie video, has sent shock waves across the state. The incident took place in Kanapuru in Korukonda mandal.

Mallikarjuna Sarma, a priest in the Lord Shiva temple accused the temple governing council of being responsible for his death after being removed from service. Sarma had been attending to his duties as a temple priest there for three decades and the sudden decision to terminate his services, led to a state of depression in him.

Sarma alleged that the governing council members took this step out of vengeance. He consumed pesticide yesterday and died while undergoing treatment.

Mallikarjuna Sarma revealed the names of all those who he felt were responsible for his death in his selfie. He demanded stern action against all those responsible for his death.

Sarma also said that his successor could also meet the same fate. He further added that he was falsely accused of carrying out digging for hidden treasures and that those levelling these charges against him and his family members, should be punished.
