Why Did AP People Punish Me: Chandrababu

Chandrababu Naidu - Sakshi Post

Kuppam: Leader Of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Chandrababu Naidu said that he found the people's verdict in the AP assembly elections baffling. He wondered whether it was wrong on his part to focus on development of the state. The TDP chief toured Kuppam constituency from where he has been contesting for the past three decades.

He expressed his anguish saying that people punished him though he had worked for creation of jobs and development of the state. Speaking about land pooling, he said that farmers' lands were given to select companies for job creation and augmenting finances of the state treasury.

Chandrababu Naidu added that he had strived to build a state capital without placing any burden on the Treasury. However, his plans went awry with the party's devastating loss in the Assembly elections he said.

The TDP chief pointed out that the diversion of water from Srisailam was held up on account of minor glitches and requested the state government to complete pending works and supply water to Kuppam through Handri-Neeva canal. He lamented that though he ensured that KIA Motors set up their manufacturing plant in the drought-stricken Anantapur district, the TDP failed to win even that seat.

Chandrababu observed that women and party activists were unable to come to terms with the defeat of a party led by a man with 14 years of experience as a chief minister, 10 years as Leader of Opposition and a party leader for 20 years. However, as a political leader with 40 years of long experience, he knew how to protect partymen, he added.
