YS Jagan Attack Case: NIA Knocks On Court’s Door For Access To Documents

Visakhapatnam: In the case related to the murder attempt on on the YSR Congress Party president, Opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, National Investigation Agency (NIA) has knocked on the Court's door on Tuesday, as the state police denied any information regarding the case. Seeking access to the documents related to the case from AP police, NIA filed a memo in the court. It also put forward another request to shift the case to Vijayawada court. The NIA is learnt to be seeking the custody of the accused, J. Srinivasa Rao into custody from the court.

The murderous attack on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took place at the Visakhapatnam airport on 25 November 2018. NIA officials filed an FIR on 1 January 2019 and started investigation, but the AP police refused to cooperate with them in the investigation. The NIA was left with no option but to seek court intervention in what is being seen as the first instance of its kind of non-cooperation by a state government.
