Dubai Passenger Smuggles Gold In Iron Boxes, Arrested - Sakshi Post

Shamshabad: The customs officers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad, arrested a man who tried to smuggle 9.2 kg gold hidden as heating coils of dry iron boxes. On Friday, customs officers conducted a search operation and found that a passenger from Dubai was smuggling gold worth Rs 3.46 crores in iron boxes.

According to officials, the gold bars were in 'V' shape and were hidden in the plates of the iron boxes in two bags. The passenger was carrying four such iron boxes with him. The accused said two bags were given by agents in Dubai to hand it over to an unknown person in the Hyderabad, for this, they offered a commission.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized the gold and taken him into custody.
